The difference between a strut and a normal shock is that a strut carries some of the weight of the car. Most of the time, the spring is mounted on the strut. In case of any compression on the strut, or the spring, or both, the wheel moves upwards towards the body of the car. The mechanism of the coilover is similar. It has a longer coil spring that is coiled around the strut. For the upward movement of the wheel, both the shock and the spring must compress. The spring carries the weight upon compression while the strut transfers or damps the bouncing to the spring. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eIn the case of coilovers, you get what you pay. That is to say that the more expensive coilovers will achieve the best handling performance for your vehicle. A cheaper coilover may provide the same functionality as an expensive coilover. Bilstein B16 (iRC) suspension kits feature ride height adjustability with standalone electronically adjustable dampers in an OE quality, direct fit package. This suspension kit allows the driver to electronically select between a Comfort or Sport setting via the iRC smartphone app and an in cabin mounted button. The iRC app allows the user to fine tune the parameters which controls the switching from Comfort to Sport on the electronic dampers. An accelerometer built into the control module provides the app with a graph of the g-forces while driving. This graph allows a user to choose the exact moment the electronic dampers will activate to provide an active suspension experience! Switching between Comfort and Sport modes can still be operated manually with the Bilstein Sport button. B16 (iRC) suspension kits are made in Germany and feature technology tested on the famed Nurburgring. Compatible with iOS only.
